Lest We Forget - A War to End All Wars?

11th November 2014 :

Remembrance Day, a hundred years after the outbreak of the Great War. A group of 40 or so teens (or teens at heart) frolic about Fort Madalena, in period costumes, singing and dancing their hearts out in an attempt to put up a great show. This, ladies and gentlemen is the cast of “A War to End All Wars?” Oh, the things we do for theatre...

"A War to End All Wars?" Is an innovative performance put up by DLS Productions, commemorating the centenary anniversary of the First World War. Taking place at Fort Madalena, in Madliena, between the 28th of November and the 4th of December, audiences are invited to travel back in time on a voyage to one of Europe's darkest hours.

This structured walkthrough, comprising of 15 scenes, each depicting an important aspect of this war, is sure to attract a versatile audience, due to being able to enhance a number of war related songs over the span of 100 years, as well as complimenting dance and, well-known war poetry. There’s something to suit everyone’s tastes: be it a 90s rock music lover, an Owen admirer, or even some sort of knitting fanatic. "A War to end all Wars?" aims to entertain all.

The production in itself is a result of countless hours of research and, hard work during the summer months. It is set to be an enriching encounter for anyone interested, even if remotely, in the performing arts and the Great War itself. Come along and, follow the love story of Charlie and Claire, as they plough their way, and involuntarily fight, their separate battles throughout this unnecessary and futile war.

"A war to end all Wars?" is a performance not to be missed - especially not by language and history students. Grab your walking shoes and, come and watch your lessons come to life. All are welcome to watch this Great War come to life.
