Student Council Updates

With exams just around the corner, as well as the final few lectures for the Second-Years, the Student Council has taken the initiative to propose the organisation of some activities once the stressful ordeals come to an end. Considering all the challenges they had to face this year, they still managed to contribute entirely to their roles, through copious amounts of patience and perseverance.

Second-Year Breakfast Bash

First-Years and Second-Years would be invited for an early morning breakfast, during the week after exams, amongst one another. Delectable food choices that the Student Council would graciously order, would be made available for the every student’s delight.

Treasure Hunt

Despite rumours, a Student Council member has informed me that the intent of the Student Council is indeed to make the Treasure Hunt possible. Many propositions for possible dates have arisen, as well as a petition, and these will be offered to the Administration, which will be ultimately followed by a compromise with the teachers’ concerns about finishing syllabi. This event has happened in every past year and will also take place, this year.

Sports Day

Sports Day has been postponed to the week after the Easter holidays, as Soiree had postponed exams by a week, and is an event organised for first and second years alike. It will be as eventful as last year’s, with multiple sports activities taking place which would cater for different strengths. Anyone is welcome to propose T-shirt designs for their respective course, which will be vetted by the Student Council and administration.

Uniform Day

Second-Years have been invited to partake in a nostalgic experience which involves them wearing their old school uniforms for a whole day of lectures. This will take place on Wednesday the 25th of March. And everyone should join in the fun, so as to make the most of their final few days at Sixth Form.

Finally, the Student Council would like to announce via The Voice that they are working extremely hard to refurbish the school. Plans are being made to refurbish classes, as well as the common and study rooms, by adding murals, bean bags etc... However this will not be possible, without each and every one of you. When looking at the state that the common room generally is downstairs, I myself ask whether any refurbishments should be made, as they would clearly be misused or destroyed within the first week, as has happened with the ground floor and first floor sofas. So, think twice before complaining about the lack of refurbishments, and ask yourselves whether or not any input from their end would be respected and maintained for the sustainable use by present and future generations.
