A New Year with the Council

As the New Year has begun, and personal resolutions have been made for a better upcoming year, the SAC Student Council has not hesitated to create means of making our scholastic experience as great as it could possibly be, by introducing new schemes, directly involving the entire student body, as well as offering us a few goodies!

Delicious coffee, and sweet hot chocolate drinks, topped with cream and melted ‘shmallows; the perfect way to kick start anyone’s day. Indubitably, I’m speaking about Costa Coffee in Balzan, who thanks to the Student Council, are now offering a 15% discount upon presentation of the gym card, for any mouth-watering goodies you desire to indulge on. Apart from this incredible offer, if the new scheme proves to be a success, the card shall at a later stage, offer numerous discounts from a variety of shops round Birkirkara, hence enabling SAC students to gain and save more - what a God-send!

Hyped up and ready for Soirée 2015? Be sure to book your Soirée hoodies, as well as the official Soirée 2015 wristbands that the Student Council have especially designed for this year’s spectacle, to join in on the school spirit. The Council is currently gathering the names and deposits of all those interested in purchasing the hoodies, so be sure not to miss out. The wristbands shall also be on sale at a later stage.

Fancy changes in the school system? Thanks to the sub-committees initiative, the Council’s decisions regarding school activities and events now include your own direct opinion. The Council is opening its doors, even to those not directly involved, by inviting students to have their say in the school’s calendar of events, as well as its innovation. The Council highly encourages those who are keen on becoming more involved within the school structure, to join these committees that are currently being set up for every individual school activity. Currently, the running school committee is carrying out decisions with regards to the second years’ final week in SAC, which is planned to feature a treasure hunt, a sports day, and also an element of our motto “Men and women for others”; a blood donation bank. You can also hand in any proposals directly to the any Council member or even through our new ‘Letters to the Editor scheme’, underlining what changes you would like to see within the system, hence enabling the Council to act upon any suggestions that you may have to offer, for a greater sixth form experience.

Our future certainly looks bright, thanks to all the promising initiatives that are currently being offered, and are still being planned. It is in the interest of every student to try to make the best of them. Only that way, can their success ever be ensured.
