How to procrastinate less?

Re: How to procrastinate less?

Ok, we're sure everybody has had trouble with this at one point or another so don’t feel like you’re alone in feeling like this. First of all, you need motivation. This could come in the form of setting goals for your future, food or even fear of tests or exams that are close by. Try to think about long term effects not studying might have, since what you do today (or rather, what you don’t do today) will most definitely affect your future.

Next, find a quiet environment with the least possible distractions if you’re someone with a short attention span. It might be useful to go to an internet free zone or remove all technological devices all together. Keeping a large supply of food close by might also help in keeping you focused and will also stop you from constantly getting up to get snacks from the kitchen – just to procrastinate.

If you have difficulty focusing for long periods of time you might find the ‘Pomodoro Technique’ useful. Basically use a timer to time periods of studying with 5 minute breaks in between each period. The original technique suggests 25 minute periods of studying however, find a time period that suits you and your attention span. Some also find that making a timetable of when and what to study is helpful in keeping yourself organised and focused.

It’s extremely important to try different things as this can be rather subjective. Find out what helps you the most and stick to that technique.

Sincerely, The Advice Team
